What is Taekwondo?

“Taekwondo is a Korean Martial Art, characterized by its emphasis on head-height kicks, jumping and spinning kicks, and fast kicking techniques.”

What times are practices?

Practice times change every semester! Our current times can be found HERE.

Where are practices held?

Practices are held in the Ferrell Commons Rec Room (South end of Ferrell Commons facing the RWC, right off of the parking lot).

What should I wear?

Wear clothes that are comfortable to work out in! If you have a taekwondo dobok (uniform) we encourage you to wear it! No special shoes are required as we practice barefoot.

How much are club dues?

You are welcome to attend three classes to try out our club before you have to pay dues. After three classes, dues are $30 per semester or $60 for the year.

Do I need to have Taekwondo experience?

Not at all! Many people join the club with little to no experience in martial arts! We have a beginner class for those who have no experience in martial arts or are refining their basic skills.

Do I need to participate in sparring?

You do not have to spar if you don’t feel comfortable or are unable!

Does the club attend Competitions?

Yes, the club usually attends 2-3 competitions per semester. These are not mandatory; However, if you’re interested in competing, consider trying out for our competition team! We attend competitions at the local, state, and national level, so there’s something for everyone!

What style/organization of taekwondo do you practice/follow?

We train in Olympic-style taekwondo, following the rules and regulations of USATaekwondo.
